May 11, 2020 | Track & Field
SEATTLE - Washington picked up a commitment from a sprint standout who will be heading home to the Pacific Northwest this fall. Victoria Gersch, a native of Mercer Island, will join the Huskies next season after competing the past three years for William & Mary.
Gersch will have one year of indoor and two years of outdoor eligibility remaining. One of the best sprinters in William & Mary history, she broke school records on 10 occasions. This indoor season, Gersch wan a 400-meters PR of 55.40 to finish fifth in the ECAC Championships. That time would rank seventh on the UW indoor top-10 list.
A standout in the classroom, Gersch has consistently won the W&M Provost Award for a GPA above a 3.5.
In her high school career at Mercer Island, Gersch made five individual finals at the 3A Washington State Championships, including a fourth-place finish in the 200-meters as a senior.
