Washington Finishes Sixth at Bruin/Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Washington women's golf team posted a sixth -place finish in their second spring tournament on Tuesday as they carded a 44-over 908 (296-302-310). The Huskies were led by freshman Brittany Kwon who tied for 11th with her 6-over 222.
Kwon's best score of the three-round event came on Tuesday as she finished with a 2-under 70 to climb 13 spots on the leaderboard into the tie for 11th at 6-over 222 (77-75-70). She improved upon her second round scorecard by five strokes after turning in an almost perfect round. Kwon opened with pars on her first seven holes and after her one error of the day came on the eighth, she responded with three birdies and seven more pars to finish at 2-under. The top 15 effort the best of Kwon's young career.
Sophomore Martha Lewis was the next best finisher for the Dawgs as she tied for 21st at 11-over 227 (74-73-80). It was her second top 25 finish this season after she had tied for 12th at the Cardinal Cup during the fall season. Junior Rino Sasaki had an up and down day as she finished with a 14-over 230 (75-76-79). Her final round started strong as she went two under over her first eight holes. She added another birdie but had a stretch where she went to 7-over during three-straight holes. The junior finished strong with pars to close her final four.
Freshman Winnie Ng tied for 35th with a 16-over 232 (73-78-81) while senior Karen Miyamoto rounded out the UW group, tying for 41st at 19-over 235 (74-80-81).
Washington returns to the course March 9-10 at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational in Fairfax, Calif.
