Gigantic Sixth Inning Pushes Huskies To 10-2 Win

CATHEDRAL CITY, Ca.Β β The #2 Washington Huskies exploded late once again in a 10-2 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Washington did not hold a lead until scoring eight times in the sixth inning, ending the game by run-rule after entering the inning tied 2-2.
In the sixth inning or later, Washington has outscored its opposition 52-6, including a 28-3 mark in the sixth inning. Today, Washington scored eight times in the bottom of the sixth, all with two outs, to take its first lead of the game. Livy Schiele and Taryn Atlee had three hits each in the game, with Atlee's scoring the run to take the lead in the sixth and driving in the game's final two runs later that inning to end the game.
The eight-run inning was Washington's highest scoring inning of the season. The Huskies also have scored in double digits eight times this season now in their 15 games, including three run-rule victories.
Gabbie Plain gave up only four hits while striking out five in the start. Plain retired ten straight after settling in, retiring the side in order in the third and fourth inning. She would pitch into the fifth inning before Pat Moore entered. Moore was perfect in her 1.1 innings, striking out two and allowing no one to reach base.
Washington finishes the weekend with a game against #25 Northwestern tomorrow at 9:00 am.
