PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The University of Washington women's golf team finished tied for 13th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Tuesday as they posted a 38-over 890 (304-291-295) in a stacked field in California. The Huskies were led by sophomore Martha Lewis who tied for 29th after a stellar final round where she went 2-under 69.
"It was a tough day for us but we saw a lot of good things this week and its just a matter of eliminating the unforced errors," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We are excited for Martha and how she closed out today's round, it was great to see."
Lewis made one of the biggest moves during the final 18 holes as she climbed 27 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 29th. The sophomore carded a 2-under 69 in her final round after posting scores of 3-over 74 and 6-over 77 in her two previous rounds. Lewis' scorecard on Tuesday started with a bogey on her second hole but she responded with three birdies and a clean scorecard after that.
