Huskies Get Commits From Sleight, Suko

SEATTLE โ Washington Men's Tennis added two local standouts to the program's storied tradition today as Jacob Sleight from Seattle's O'Dea High School and Nedim Suko from Kirkland's Lake Washington High School signed their Letters of Intent to join UW in fall of 2021.

Head Coach Matt Anger was excited to finally be able to officially welcome the pair of new Dawgs.

"We are pleased to announce that we have signed Nedim and Jacob," Anger said. "They have both been committed for some time so it is about time that we can announce it.ย They both have Husky ties and already bleed purple.ย Nedim is a super athlete that will do well and improve quickly in our program.ย Jacob has impressed me with his day-in and day-out commitment to the sport.ย Their best tennis is ahead of them and it will be tough to wait until next September to work with them."

Suko has been rated as high as 31st nationally by Tennisrecruiting.net and currently ranks 43rd for a "five-star" rating from the site. The Kirkland, Wash. native has advanced to the quarterfinals or farther in six different ITF singles events. Suko's Universal Tennis Rating of 11.90 would rank him among the top-eight on the current Husky roster.

Suko's coach, Mark Hanson, was also the coach of former Husky Mitch Stewart, a 2018 grad who was a four-time All-Pac-12 Team selection.

Both of Sleight's parents are Washington grads so purple pride runs deep in the family. He carries a Universal Tennis Rating of 11.07 and has been ranked as high as 91st in the nation by Tennisrecruiting.net and currently No. 101.
