Thomas Set For World Championships Run
September 26, 2019 | Cross Country, Track & Field
SEATTLE - Husky freshman Carley Thomas had a pretty solid excuse for missing the first day of classes on Wednesday. She is halfway around the globe ready to represent Australia at the 2019 IAAF World Championships.
Thomas is the first Husky track athlete ever to compete at the World Championships while still a current Dawg, and the Sydney native is only just beginning her college journey.
The best track and field athletes in the world are in Doha, Qatar for the next ten days. Thomas will be racing on the first day, tomorrow, at 7:10 a.m. Pacific time, in the women's 800-meter first rounds. NBC Sports Network will televise the day live.
Last year Thomas raced at the World Junior Championships, taking silver in the 800-meters. She steps up to the top level just one year later, having run a personal-best over the summer of 2:01.01.
