Husky Summer Update
July 02, 2019 | Men's Soccer
The University of Washington has produced nearly 100 players who have appeared in 14 different leagues throughout the 57-year history of the program. Currently, 16 former Huskies and nearly all 26 current Dawgs are competing professionally and as amateurs in numerous leagues this summer.
Nine current Huskies are competing in the West Region quarterfinals of the National Premier Soccer League tournament as Crossfire Redmond and OSA Seattle FC face off on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Redmond High School. Representing Crossfire will be Ethan Bartlow, Charlie Ostrem, Bryce Logan, Joey Parish and Jaret Townsend with John Magnus, Daniel Ribas, Cole Grimsby and Imanol Rosales competing for OSA. Crossfire has drawn the No. 1 seed in the Northwest region with a 7-2-1 record so far this season. OSA is holding down the No. 2 seed at 6-4-0. The winner advances to the West semifinals July 13 with the west finals taking place on July 20.
So far, the teams have met twice this season with Crossfire winning both matches. On May 19, Crossfire downed OSA 5-0 with Ostrem scoring one of the five goals and Logan getting the start and earning a share of the shutout. When the teams met again on June 12, the score was much closer with Crossfire netting a goal in stoppage time to earn a 2-1 victory.
"It's been a great summer season with Crossfire being able to play with all my old Academy teammates and also getting closer to some of the other UW guys," said Ostrem. "Just being able to get games in and winning our division has been so much fun and I'm excited for our upcoming playoff match vs OSA. It'll be a competitive and high stakes game because it's a cross town rivalry between a bunch of other UW guys who will be hungry to beat us."

Among the alumni:
- Cristian Roldan and the United States Men's National Team is just one win away from the Gold Cup final, which would be the team's seventh finals appearance in the last eight tournaments. Roldan has appeared in two games, earning the start at midfield in the USMNT's huge victory over Panama in its final pool play matchup.
- Henry Wingo made his first start of the season for the Sounders, playing 80 minutes in Seattle's 1-0 Cascadia Cup victory over Whitecaps. Fellow UW alum Handwalla Bwana came in for him as a substitute over the final 10+ minutes of the contest.
- Kyle Coffee netted his second goal of the season as the RSL Monarchs picked up a 2-1 road win against Colorado Springs.
