Another Big Inning Carries Huskies To 8-0 Win Over Stanford

SEATTLE Β β The #2 Washington Huskies shutout the Stanford Cardinal in resounding fashion Friday, winning 8-0 in five innings after a six-run fifth triggered the run rule. Washington moves to 44-7 on the season and 19-4 in conference now, with a chance to record its second-ever season with 20 conference wins tomorrow.
Gabbie Plain started the game striking out the side in the first and ended it with nine straight batters retired. The sophomore only allowed two baserunners all game, facing just one batter over the minimum in her 30th career complete game.
Morganne Flores, Sami Reynolds, and SilentRain Espinoza combined for six hits and six RBI, with Reynolds ending the game on a line-drive single in the fifth. Kaija Gibson reached base in every plate appearance, going 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored.

The regular season comes to a close tomorrow at 12:00 pm against Stanford. The NCAA Selection Show will be at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
