SEATTLE – Coming off her Collegiate Outdoor Record in the pole vault, Husky senior Olivia Gruver has been named the National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Gruver, the two-time NCAA Champion who transferred to UW this season, cleared 15-6 1/4 on Friday at the Stanford Invitational, bettering the former record by half an inch that was held by 2016 Olympic Silver Medalist Sandi Morris. Gruver's clearance also shattered the Pac-12 record by over five inches, and the UW school record by 13 inches.

A native of Reisterstown, Maryldn, Gruver's previous outdoor PR was 14-11, which she made when winning the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She owns a higher indoor PR of 15-3 3/4 set at the 2018 SEC Indoor meet.

Her mark also ties her for fifth in U.S. history outdoors.

Gruver also won Pac-12 Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday.
