Big Win For Huskies In Second Spring Game
April 12, 2019 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies earned the 4-0 shutout against their crosstown rival the Seattle Redhawks Thursday, picking up a win in their second spring game. Asia Brisco, Mireya Grey, Vanessa Millsaps, and Ruby Hellstrom all scored in the game for Washington. It was a combined shutout in goal for Washington, with Siena Ruelas starting and Dani Hansen finishing things out.
"There are a lot of great team and individual takeaways for us from this game," said Lesle Gallimore about Washington's first spring win. "It was outstanding to see two of our goalkeepers get shutouts, as well as our team as a whole. It was also exciting to see the goal-scoring spread around and to get contributions from players who started and came off the bench.
"We are always a work in progress so whether we win or lose we'll look closely at where we can get better. Our 90 minute focus and commitment as a team to hold a high standard of execution on both sides of the is where we need to continue to grow and mature. In our quest to be elite we must hold ourselves to that every time we step on the field no matter the score. We're looking forward to the challenge of travel and a two game day next weekend."
Washington will have one more home game in the spring season, taking on Seattle Pacific on Wednesday, April 24 at 7:00 pm. Admission to that game is free.
