No. 7 Huskies Win Pac-12 Opener 4-1 At Colorado

BOULDER, COLO. --- The seventh ranked Washington women's tennis team defeated Colorado 4-1 on Friday afternoon at Rocky Mountain Tennis Center. The Huskies are now 1-0 in Pac-12 play and 11-1 on the season.
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning two doubles matches on Courts 1 and 2. The 43rd ranked doubles partner of Stacey Fung and Nika Zupancic defeated Malinen and Andrinopoulos 6-3. Fung and Zupanic's record on the year now stands at 7-1 in dual doubles matches.
On Court 2, sophomore Vanessa Wong and Zoey Weil beat Nayar and Forster 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for the Dawgs. Wong and Weil are now 5-1 in dual doubles matches.
Senior Kenadi Hance and freshman Sedona Gallagher's match on Court 3 went unfinished. The score was 4-4 at the time of the doubles point being decided.
In singles play, the Buffaloes tied up the match at one as junior Katarina Kopcalic lost to Malinen 1-6, 3-6.
However, the Huskies did not look back and went on to win the next three singles matches.
Wong came back from a one set deficit to defeat Andrinopoulos 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 to give UW a 2-1 lead. Wong remains perfect in singles dual matches at 11-0.
Fung then finished off Nayar 7-6, 6-4 to extend the Washington lead to 3-1. Fung improved her record on the season to 8-3 in singles dual matches.
On Court 5, Gallagher took care of business and took down Farrow 6-4, 6-3 to give the Huskies their fourth point of the match.
Junior Natsuho Arakawa was down 6-7, 5-4 when the match was completed. Zupancic took the first set 6-3, and was up 4-2 as her match went unfinished.
The Dawgs look to keep their six-match win streak alive as the road trip continues on March 10, when the Huskies face Utah at 10 a.m.
