March 26, 2019 | Gymnastics
SAN FRANCISCO - Seven GymDawgs earned their way onto the Pac-12 All-Academic teams today. Michaela Nelson, Evanni Roberson, and Monica Riley all earned Second Team honors, while Madison Copiak, Kristyn Hoffa, Malory Rose, and Maya Washington were named Honorable Mentions. This is the second consecutive year Washington has had at least seven GymDawgs honored by the Pac-12 for their academic excellence.
This is Riley's third consecutive All-Academic award. She was named First Team after the 2018 season and was an Honorable Mention after her sophomore year, her first year eligible for the award. Roberson has been named to the All-Academic teams two years in a row, with this being her first time on the First or Second Team. Nelson was an Honorable Mention last season before this year's Second Team honor.
For Washington, Rose, and Hoffa, this is the second All-Academic honor. Washington and Hoffa were both Honorable Mention last season while Rose was Honorable Mention in 2017. This is Copiak's first All-Academic award.
The GymDawgs have had at least five All-Academic honorees for five consecutive years now. This is the 18th year in a row that Washington has had multiple All-Academic awards. This year, the GymDawgs have carried a 3.56 GPA as a team, the highest of any team at the University of Washington.
