SEATTLE - It's time for the Husky cross country squads to check in at the next stop on the way to Terre Haute. Once again the men and women will be at separate events on separate days this week but the goal is the same: To show improvement over the season opener two weeks back.
The sixth-ranked women's squad will be up first on Friday, Oct. 4, running the in Blue Race at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. The Blue Race is a 5,000-meter run starting at 10 a.m. Pacific time at Burke Golf Course.
It will be a second straight very strong field that the women will go against. Come Saturday it will be the men's turn in the only race close to home for the Huskies this season, the John Payne/Cutis Invitational at Chambers Creek Properties in University Place, Wash.
At 3:30 p.m. on Saturday the men will run 8,000-meters at the Central Meadow located at 6320 Grandview Drive West.
Eight Huskies will be in uniform on Saturday – Nate Beamer, Isaac Green, Isaac Mohn, Nick Laccinole, Gavin Parpart, Sam Ritz, Alex Slenning, and Mick Stanovsek.
