October 22, 2019 | Men's Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO --- Junior midfielder Blake Bodily was named the Pac-12 Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Tuesday after assisting on the match-winner and scoring a goal of his own in the Huskies' 4-0 win over Gonzaga last week. The award was the first of the season for Washington and the first in Bodily's career.
Bodily came up huge in the start of the match on Wednesday, making a long run down the left side and sending a perfect cross to the goal mouth where Gio Miglietti hit it in for the first goal of the match. Near the end of the first half, Bodily was the recipient of a great cross from Imanol Rosales and redirected it into the net to make it 2-0.
The junior, who is on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List awarded to the top collegiate men's soccer player, leads the team with 15 points, scoring five goals and adding five assists. He has tallied a point in eight of 11 matches on the season. Bodily is a two-time First-Team All-Pac-12 selection and was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2017.
The No. 1-ranked Huskies (12-1-0, 5-0-0 Pac-12) look to extend their eight-match winning streak this week, heading to Southern California to face UCLA on Thursday and San Diego State on Sunday.
