Woolsey Named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month
October 02, 2019 | Men's Golf
SEATTLE – After winning back-to-back tournament titles and helping the Washington men's golf team earn a No. 8 ranking nationally, junior Noah Woolsey has been named the Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Month for September, the league announced Wednesday. It is the first Golfer of the Month honor a Husky has won since C.T. Pan took home the March award in 2015.
Woolsey has shot under par in all five rounds this season and has a stroke average of 66.6 that moved him into the No. 7 spot in the country in the latest Golfweek national rankings.
In his season-opening tournament, Woolsey went 70-68 to finish with a 6-under 138 in the rain shortened Husky Invitational, sharing the individual tournament title with three other student-athletes, including his teammate Jan Schneider. Washington won the team crown at the event with a 22-under 554.
He followed that up by earning his first outright tournament victory at the Old Town Club Collegiate as he turned in his best 54-hole score as a Husky at 15-under 195 with rounds of 66-66-63 on the par-70 course. The junior had just one blemish during the three-round tournament and closed his final 37 holes with a perfectly clean scorecard. Woolsey's final round was his best as he carded a 7-under 63 thanks to an eagle and five birdies.
Washington is back on the road next week heading to Texas for the Maridoe Intercollegiate, Oct. 6-8.
