October 16, 2019 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE - The Washington GymDawgs announced their 2020 season schedule today. The schedule will feature five opponents that reached NCAA Nationals in 2019, with nine of the 11 teams on this year's schedule finishing in the nation's top 25.
Washington will face off against Michigan, UCLA, Utah, Oregon State, and Denver from the 2019 Nationals field, with both UCLA and Denver having finished in the nation's top four, reaching the national finals in the first year of the new postseason format. Cal (#11), Boise State (#15), Stanford (#22), and Arizona (#25) all finished in the nation's top 25 as well.
Seven of the teams on Washington's 2020 schedule advanced to the second day of NCAA Regionals in the new postseason format. Ten of the 11 made it to NCAA Regionals. Six of Washington's meets will be aired live on the Pac-12 Network.
Washington will have five home meets this year. The GymDawgs start their home season hosting Boise State on January 20, then host Cal later that week on January 26. Washington will also host Arizona on February 15 and Utah on March 1. Washington's last meet before the Pac-12 Championships will be at home against Seattle Pacific on March 14.
Of Washington's six road meets, half will come against 2019 Nationals teams. The 2020 season will begin at Michigan, which finished fifth in the country last year. Washington will also travel to UCLA on January 31, Stanford on February 10, and Arizona State on February 23 as part of a difficult Pac-12 slate.
The final road trip of the year for the GymDawgs will see them face Oregon State, which finished sixth in the country, and Denver, which finished fourth, in a three-day span. Washington will face Oregon State on March 6 and face Denver on March 8.
This year's Pac-12 Championships will take place at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah. The 2020 NCAA Regionals will be hosted by Oklahoma, Denver, Penn State, and UCLA, with Nationals set for April 17-18 in Fort Worth, Texas.
