Dawgs Win Third Tournament of the Season; Lee and Woolsey Win Individual Titles

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Washington men's golf team won its third tournament of the season on Tuesday as the Dawgs took home the Georgetown Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon by 27 strokes as they wrote in a 17-under 835. Additionally, junior Noah Woolsey and senior Henry Lee claimed a share of the individual title with their 5-under 208. All six Huskies competing finished in the top 10.
"This was a really great tournament for our group with a lot of guys recording their best finishes as Huskies," said head coach Alan Murray. "I was really happy for all of them, especially Henry who really deserved this finish. Jan and Bo showed great poise bouncing back today during their final round and it just was a deserved victory for our team."
Woolsey earned his third individual title of the season as he improved upon his score in each of the three rounds en route to his 5-under 208. After starting the event with a 1-over 72, Woolsey then went to 2-under 69 and 4-under 67 on Tuesday's round. He opened the day going 5-under over his first six holes including an eagle on the par 4 fifth hole and ended up moving up four spots on the leaderboard during his final 18.
Lee didn't finish with his strongest round but he earned a share of his first individual title of the season with his 5-under 208. Lee was in the lead for the entire tournament after posting round of 5-under 66, 2-under 69 and 2-over 73. Closing his final 18, the senior finished with a birdie to move his total to 13 for the event, which tied for the second most.
Freshman Petr Hruby, who was competing as an individual, tied for fourth which was his best finish as a Husky. He posted a 2-under 211 and went par or sub par in each round for the first tournament as a Dawg. Hruby went 1-under 70, 1-under 70 on day one and followed with an even par 71 to close the tournament.
Sophomore Paul Margolis also posted a 2-under 211 to tie for fourth and record his best finish of the season and his highest as a Husky. Margolis carded rounds of 1-under 70, 2-under 69 and 1-over 72. Junior Jan Schneider and freshman Bo Peng made the biggest moves on Tuesday as they both moved at least 20 spots up the leaderboard.
Schneider saved his best round for last as he matched the best 18-hole score by a Husky in the event with his 5-under 66 on Tuesday to move 27 spots up the board into a tie for ninth at 2-over 215 (73-76-66). Schneider's round featured seven birdies and was a 10-stroke improvement from his round two score. Peng also jumped 20 spots as he carded a 4-under 67 to finish tied for ninth as well. The freshman recorded his second top 10 showing of the season and fourth top 20 effort in as many events.
Washington concludes its fall season, Nov. 1-3 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate in Lahaina, Hawaii.
