SEATTLE - With the season just a few weeks away, the Washington Huskies have announced their full camp schedule for the season and summer. Camps for all ages of softball players are available online, with camps running through August available.
Washington's next available camp will be the Elite Clinic, set for Sunday, February 3. Participants will join the entire Husky coaching staff for a one-day clinic, learning all aspects of softball and getting to tour the University of Washington campus. Interested players should bring their own plastic/molded cleats and indoor turf shoes. The Elite Clinic will begin at 8:30 am (with pitchers and catchers beginning at 7:45 am) and run until 1:00 pm.
Washington's summer camps begin this June with the Advanced Infield Play Clinic on June 24. Participants in that camp will need to bring a glove, ball, cleats, and turf shoes and will learn the specifics of glovework, footwork, and all the fundamentals needed to be a successful Husky infielder. This camp is open for all interested players ages 12-18 and runs from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Also on June 24 will be Washington's Pitching Clinic. The Pitching Clinic, which runs from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, will see participants learning from the Huskies all the minutiae needed to be a college pitcher. Participants should bring their own softball as well as someone to catch for them. This camp is for players ages 10-18.
Washington's Hitting Clinic will start after these two clinics, at 6:30 pm on June 24. This camp is open to any players ages 8-18 and will teach all the fundamentals of a perfect swing. All levels of experience ages 8-18 are welcome at the Hitting Clinic. Participants will learn from the Husky players and coaches all the drills necessary for a successful swing. Participants should bring their own batting helmet, gloves, bat, kneepads, cleats, and turf shoes.
The Huskies will host three Player Academies this summer, beginning on June 25 and 26. These two-day academies are limited to 25 players ages 11-18, to allow for a more personal experience with Washington's coaches and players. The academies will teach individual players what it takes to succeed as a part of Husky Softball through customized drills and training. Participants will live the life of a Husky for two days, practicing with members of the team and the coaches, receiving the same training as the Dawgs and using all the same facilities. Any participants should bring their own batting helmet, gloves, bat, cleats, and turf shoes. Catchers should bring their own gear.
In addition to the June 25-26 Player Academy, there will be Player Academies held on July 9-10 and July 16-17.
The final camp open now for registration is the Mini Dawgs Clinic, for players ages 6-12 on August 5-6. This two-day camp introduces some vital skills for pitching, catching, defensive work, and hitting. Participants will work in small groups across a variety of drills teaching all aspects of softball. Participants should bring their own batting helmet, gloves, bat, cleats, and turf shoes. Catchers should bring their own catching gear.
