Husky Women's Tennis European Tour: Day 11
September 24, 2018 | Women's Tennis
MONTE CARLO --- The Washington women's tennis team completed their preseason European Tour as they flew home to Seattle on Monday. The Huskies traveled to Barcelona, Paris and Cannes over the 11-day span, preparing for the upcoming fall season, as well as growing closer as a team.
Senior Stacey Fung recapped the team's final day of the trip:
"Hey Huskies!"
"As our trip in Europe is coming to an end, we wrapped up our last day with a bang! We started our day by driving along the water through the beautiful cities of Cannes and Nice and made our way to Monte Carlo. We had a pit stop and picked up some snacks and bought some clothes from a boutique that was part of a small market on the side of the road. We then continued our journey and had lunch along Plague du Larvotto."
"Once we finished lunch, we made our way to the Monte Carlo Country Club (where the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 is held) for practice. This was such an unbelievable experience playing on the three center courts. I think everyone was in awe of the club, the courts and the view. Even though we had to be more quiet during this practice, everyone loved playing on the courts! Jacquelyn Jaech was able to join us on this trip which was incredible having a donor spend time with the team, really get to know her and watch her play tennis. It's families like the Jaech's, Remak's and SoSnowy's that help make this trip possible for us, and there are truly not enough words to describe how grateful we are for them and all they do for us! We appreciate you so much."
"We had an early wakeup call this morning to catch our 7 AM flight. It was a long travel day, but we got to enjoy Nika's 19th birthday the whole way back and she gets to have an extra-long birthday this year with the time change!"
"Overall, this trip is going to be unforgettable! It's crazy to think that we're already heading back to Seattle and school starts in a few days. I know all of the freshmen and transfers are excited for their first day of classes and to be on the UW campus wearing the purple and gold. Kenadi and I are also excited for our last first day of school."
"We've already made so many rich memories, I can't wait to get back to our purple courts, get to work and have a great season! Go dawgs!"
