Husky Women's Tennis European Tour: Day 6
September 19, 2018 | Women's Tennis
CANNES --- The Huskies continued their preseason European Tour as they spent time in Paris before traveling to Cannes on the sixth day of the trip.
Senior Kenadi Hance summarized the team's activities:
"Hey dawg fans!"
"Today was one of our most thrilling days yet on our adventure around Europe. I was able to check off a lifelong bucket list item of mine, going to The Louvre! We started out the morning waking up quite early, eating our freshly baked croissants straight out of the oven with jam, and a hot cappuccino. We then made our way through the streets of Paris, admiring the alleyways and beautiful architecture as we got closer our destination. Once we entered, I was honestly in shock. The Louvre seemed larger than life on the outside, I couldn't even imagine what the Huskies would see once we got inside."
"Although our time was limited, we all got to see classic, timeless pieces like The Mona Lisa, The Venus de Milo and many other magnificent sculptures and paintings. Not only that, but the show rooms themselves were a work of art on their own. With that being said, I am pretty sure we didn't even make it through a quarter of the museum. I still can't wrap my head around how the artists could create such beautiful, and ornate works of art with such limited supplies like we do today. The attention to detail, whether it be a sculpture, a painting, or even a simple door knob was out of this world."
"Once our time was up the Huskies had to rush our way back through the streets of Paris, and back to our hotel as fast as possible. It was time to say good-bye to Paris and hello to a new destination, Cannes! After a quick flight we were back on the ground, seeing a completely new look at France, the seaside. After checking in to our new hotel, the Huskies assembled for our first beach side meal. You may think that since I'm from California, it would be normal to have meals by the ocean. But this was an experience like none I've ever had before. Not only was the food exquisite, but the restaurant was literally on the sand. Purple lights lit up the restaurant as they knew we were coming. For me personally, it was our best meal thus far. We've only been here a couple of hours, but I have a feeling that Cannes might be our best stop yet! I can't wait to see what happens next on this trip of a lifetime.
"Go Huskies!"

Hance is one of two seniors on the team, holding a career singles record of 50-39 and a doubles record of 43-36. She has also twice been named All-Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention.
Why did you choose to play at the University of Washington?
"I chose Washington because when I came on my visit I had never seen anything like it. The campus was so beautiful, the athletic department was incredible, and the people I met on my visit made it feel like home. "
When did you start to play tennis?
"Both of my parents teach tennis for a living, so as soon as I could walk! My birth announcement said, '2022 US Open Champion'.... so let's see if that happens."
Who is your favorite tennis player?
"Maria Sharapova! She played at my parent's tennis center so watching her train really motivated me from a young age."
What are your goals for the season?
"To enjoy every moment. The good and the bad. When they say college goes by fast, they aren't kidding! I really want to savor every moment for my last season."
What is your favorite tennis memory?
"Definitely clinching our match against Alabama and USC my sophomore year. It was the most amazing feeling."
What is a fact that people may not know about you?
"I am a singer and song writer. It's one of my biggest passions outside of tennis!"
What is your favorite thing to do in Seattle?
"I love to explore the city and find corky things to do. There really is no other city like Seattle and it's really easy to find adventures."
What do you like to do outside of tennis?
"Spend time with friends and family, beach (if I'm in California), or be outdoors. Also listen to music or sing."
Where is your favorite place that you've ever visited?
"I would say Maui with my family or Honolulu with the team. I'm a sucker for island adventures!"
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
"To fly."
