Husky Women's Tennis European Tour: Day 2
September 15, 2018 | Women's Tennis
BARCELONA ---The Husky women's tennis team continued their preseason foreign tour as they spent their second day in Barcelona, practicing as well as taking in the sights of the city. Freshman Sedona Gallagher recapped the team's day:
"Hi Huskies! This is Sedona, reporting to you live from Barcelona. Today was action packed from start to finish!"
"We started the day off with our first official practice of the year at Club Esportiu Laietá. The red clay was beautiful, and the team's energy was amazing. The Huskies had so much team spirit this morning that there were noise complaints! After practice, we went back to the hotel to get ready for some adventuring."
"First, we got lunch at the Boqueria Market, a world famous market full of almost every food you can imagine. Then we headed over to the Sagrada Familia, a gorgeous Catholic Church designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí. The attention to detail on the building was stunning, especially the statues of the saints. I would also like to make note that Stacey Fung earned saint status today when she lent me some shoes that were desperately needed due to my impractical choice in footwear."
"After the Sagrada Familia, we made the trek over to Gaudí's other creation: Park Güell. The mosaics throughout the park and the view at the city at the top made it worth the hike. We had a delicious dinner in downtown Barcelona, and capped the evening off with some gelato."
"Day two has come to a close, but my dawg pack and I can't wait to get back on the clay tomorrow morning. I really can't think of a better way to kick off freshman year than a trip through Europe with my amazing team! Go Huskies!"
