
Rusnak Breaks Freshman Heptathlon Record

STANFORD, Calif. - Hannah Rusnak completed her first collegiate heptathlon today at the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships hosted by Stanford, and the 4,934 points she put together broke a 31-year-old Washington freshman record. The Lynden, Wash. native finished 10th overall and the top freshman finisher in a field of mostly seniors and juniors.
Rusnak's two-day total puts her at No. 5 in Washington school history and broke the freshman record of 4,891 points set by Angie Tasker in 1987.
Sitting in sixth going into today's action, Rusnak started things in the long jump where she jumped 17-2 3/4 for 628 points. She then finished seventh overall in the javelin with a best of 120-5 for 604 points. She finished running a season-best 800-meter time of 2:37.86 for 598 points.
The Huskies will be heading for Stanford next weekend as the Pac-12 Championships take place Saturday and Sunday, live for the first time on the Pac-12 Networks.
