SAN FRANCISCO – Four Washington men's tennis student-athletes received Pac-12 All-Academic second team and honorable mention honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Piers Foley, Kawika Lam and Mitch Stewart were all named to the All-Academic second team. Enzo Sommer was the lone Husky on the honorable mention list. These are the first All-Academic nods all of the Dawgs aside from Lam, who was also on the second team in 2017.
Foley, a junior from Great Britain, earned a 3.47 GPA in Latin while holding a steady spot in the singles lineup throughout the year. He had an 8-9 singles record and 12-6 doubles record in dual matches.
In 2018, Lam and Sommer, both juniors, played at No. 1 doubles in every match. Together, they earned a 12-12 record in dual matches, 17-13 overall. Lam, who did not play singles this season, had a 3.37 GPA in accounting to earn his second-straight second team nod.
Stewart, a senior communication major, posted a 3.24 ERA while leading the team with a 16-3 record in singles and an 11-8 mark in doubles. He was ranked by the ITA in singles for the majority of the season, earning six wins against ranked opponents.
To be eligible for selection to an academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and appear in at least 50 percent of the team's competition.
