May 02, 2018 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – Senior Jake Douglas was selected to represent Washington men's tennis in the 2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championships starting on May 23 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
"I'm thrilled for Jake," Washington head coach Matt Anger said. "This is validation for his improvement over these last four years. I have to say that he'll be playing for his buddy, Mitch (Stewart), who didn't get in. They were both so solid and deserving."
Douglas was second on the team in dual-match wins with 15. In the most recent ITA singles rankings, he is ranked No. 65. A native from Rolling Hills, California, Douglas played his dual matches at No. 1 or No. 2 singles, earning a 9-4 record at No. 1 and 6-1 record at No. 2. He has four wins against players ranked in the top 100, including a win over No. 9 Tom Fawcett in the Pac-12 Men's Tennis Championships.
The singles championship starts on May 23 and ends on May 28, all matches taking place at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. For more information regarding the bracket and viewing options, check back on the men's tennis page on GoHuskies.com as May 23 gets closer.

"I'm happy to have been selected to compete in the individual tournament," Douglas said. "It has been my goal ever since after my freshman year to get to this point as an individual. But having said that, there's still a lot of work to do."
For the first time since 2013, the Huskies will be represented in the field of 64 in the singles championships. Kyle McMorrow was the last Dawg to play in the singles championships, selected in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013, McMorrow advanced to the round of 16."I'm thrilled for Jake," Washington head coach Matt Anger said. "This is validation for his improvement over these last four years.
