Washington Baseball Announces "Jake's Corner" Charity Ticket Program
March 14, 2018 | Baseball
SEATTLE - With the help of generous donors, University of Washington alumnus and Arizona Diamondbacks third-baseman Jake Lamb has partnered with UW Baseball to create a new charity program, "Jake's Corner", which will provide opportunities for local groups to attend Husky Baseball games free of cost. The new program will provide free tickets for participating groups, and in some instances transportation to and from the park.Β
"Husky Baseball has been such an important part of my life, and I wanted to find a way to make sure that kids can have a great experience at Husky Ballpark," Lamb said. "We were fortunate to have some incredible donors step up and make this happen, and I hope we get the chance to send a lot of kids to the park."Β
"Jake's Corner" will host a different group each Friday night game of a Pac-12 series, and in some instances provide transportation to and from Husky Ballpark. This season, the Huskies will host Friday night tilts with Arizona, Oregon, Washington State, UCLA and Stanford in Pac-12 play. Lamb, an All-Pac-12 selection, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 MLB draft by the Diamondbacks, and appeared in the 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.Β
"Jake is an incredible ballplayer, but this initiative speaks to who he is as a person," Huskies head baseball coach Lindsay Meggs said. "We are extremely fortunate to play in an incredible setting, and I'm thrilled that this program will allow so many new fans to experience it."Β
On the shores of Lake Washington, Husky Ballpark reopened in 2014 after a $15 million renovation, and is known as one of the most unique settings in collegiate baseball.
