Huskies Complete Undefeated Weekend At Home

SEATTLE – No. 24 Washington women's tennis picked up two more wins on against Portland and Eastern Washington to cap off an undefeated weekend at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Portland
The Dawgs started hot against the Pilots and never let up. All three UW doubles duos won their sets by the same 6-2 margin. With the doubles point up on the board, Washington was fired up for singles.
At No. 3 singles, Miki Kobayashi wrapped up her match first, cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 win. Not far behind was No. 11 Stacey Fung on court one. Fung saw the same score in both sets, dominating in a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Alexis Prokopuik at No. 4 singles clinched the match for Washington. After only allowing one game in her 6-1 win in the first set, she shutout her Pilots opponent in the second, securing her match win and the win for UW.
Courts two and six were suspended once the match was clinched. Kenadi Hance finished her match on court five because she picked up her 6-1, 6-1 win not even one minute after her teammate Prokopuik solidified the win.

Eastern Washington
The Eagles gave the Huskies all they could handle in doubles. The No. 3 duo of Hance and Angela Li dropped their set, 6-2. Following Kobayashi and Wong's win on court one, the doubles point was in the hands of Fung and Prokopuik at No. 2 doubles. It took an extra game, but the Dawgs pulled it out, 7-5, to get the doubles point.
In singles, the doubles duo of Kobayashi and Wong both handled their matches quickly. No. 36 Wong swept her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Kobayashi was not far behind, taking her match, 6-1, 6-1.
Like the match against Portland, it was Prokopuik who clinched the match for Washington with her singles win. She defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-0. Also like the Portland match, Hance was not far behind, finishing no more than one minute after her teammate. Hance won her match, 6-1, 6-1.
The remaining two matches on courts one and six continued once the team match was decided. Senior Angela Li saw the court for the first time this season after participating on the track and field team at Washington in her first three years in Seattle. At No. 6 singles, she played a gritty match, picking up her first career win, 6-4, 6-3.
The last singles match came down to No. 11 Fung and the Eagles' Janaya Smith. Fung on the first set, 6-4, but Smith battled to make it interested in the second. A tiebreaker was needed to decide a winner in that second set. Fung pulled it out in the end, winning the second set 7-6(7) to take the match.
