Huskies Open Spring Campaign at Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

SEATTLE – The University of Washington Women's Golf Team starts its spring campaign this weekend heading to the Northrop-Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. The Dawgs are coming off of a fall season that saw them post two top five finishes including a team title at the Edean Ihlandfeldt Invite.
The Huskies also posted a tie for fifth place at the prestigious Pac-12 Preview while finishing sixth at the Stanford Intercollegiate and tied for eighth at the Schooner Fall Classic. Sophomore Karen Miyamoto led the team during the fall with a 72.91 scoring average and posting her best finish with a tie for third at the Edean Ihlandfeldt Invite.
Three Huskies posted sub 70 rounds including Miyamoto who was joined by Rino Sasaki who's 2-under 68 at the Schooner Classic was the best round by a Dawg in the fall. Junior Wenyung Keh also carded a 3-under 68 in the opening round of the Stanford Intercollegiate en route to finishing first for the Huskies en route to a overall finish of tying for eighth.
The Dawgs will send juniors Julianne Alvarez, Sarah Rhee, Wenyung Keh along with freshman Rino Sasaki and sophomore Karen Miyamoto to this weekend's spring opening tournament at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. There will be 54 holes of stroke play starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The 18-team field is stacked with a stellar field that includes seven out of the top 10 teams in the nation – UCLA (1), Alabama (2), Duke (4), Stanford (5), Texas (8), Oklahoma State (9) and Southern California (10). Other teams seeing action include Arizona, Arizona State (13), Baylor, Florida (20), Northwestern (12), Ohio State, San Diego State, Tennessee, UNLV, Wake Forest and Washington (17).
Live scoring can be found on golfstat.com starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday as Washington will be paired with Wake Forest, Tennessee and UNLV.
