Huskies Open Play at Bulldog Invite

SPOKANE, Wash. --- The Washington women's tennis team continued their fall season with the first day of play at the Bulldog Invite on Friday. The Huskies had a successful day, winning all seven matches.
In the Red Singles draw, freshman Nika Zupancic earned her first singles win of her college career, defeating Laura May from Montana State 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Delara Zamani also earned her first victory of her Husky career by beating Madeline Lamoreaux from Eastern Washington 6-3, 6-4.
In the Blue Singles draw, senior Kenadi Hance breezed by her opponent in her opening match, 6-0, 6-0, to beat Yasmin Mansouri of Eastern Washington. Junior Katarina Kopcalic went up against Rylee Braeden of Eastern Washington, winning 4-6, 6-0, 10-2.
In the White Singles draw, junior Abbey Watanabe played her first match as a Husky against Shion Watabe of Idaho, winning 5-7, 6-4, 11-9. The two Husky teams also won both of their doubles matches in the morning. The Husky duo of Hance and Zamani cruised by Lamoreaux and Braeden from Eastern Washington, winning 6-3. The pair of Kopcalic and Zupancic defeated Waite and Mansouri from Eastern Washington 6-4, to move to the next round.
