Doubles Team of Fung and Zupancic Advance to Round of 16

STANFORD, Calif. --- The Washington women's tennis team completed the second day of play at the ITA Northwest Regionals on Saturday. Senior Stacey Fung and junior Vanessa Wong both won their singles round of 32 matches in the morning but fell in the round of 16. The doubles tandem of Fung and freshman Nika Zupancic won their round of 32 match to advance to the round of 16 on Sunday morning.
Fung opened the day by defeating Schroer from Santa Clara 6-4, 6-2. She would go on to lose to Lampl from Stanford 4-6, 6-7(2) in the round of 16.
Wong beat Stloukalova from Cal 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 32. Wong then fell to Shin from Stanford in the round of 32 5-7, 1-6.
Junior Katarina Kopcalic fell to Lord from Stanford in the round of 32 0-6, 4-6. Junior Natsuho Arakawa lost to Bright from Cal in the round of 32 1-6, 4-6. Freshman Delara Zamani was defeated by Gordon from Stanford 0-6, 0-6.
Three Huskies won their Saturday singles consolation matches, with freshman Sedona Gallagher beating Eshet (Oregon) 6-4, 7-6(3), Zupancic took down Timotin (Fresno State) 6-4, 5-7, 1-0(9), and senior Kenadi Hance beat Husrefovic from Fresno State 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles play, Fung and Zupancic earned a trip to the round of 16 by beating Meszarof and Nikitovic from Portland State 8-4.
Wong and Zamani fell to Garley and Rosas from Gonzaga 2-8. Hance and Kopcalic lost to Bright and Dunk from Cal 3-8. Arakawa and Gallagher were beaten by Kobayashi and Sendar from San Jose State 7-8(5).
