FORT WORTH, Texas – The Huskies finished the prestigious Nike Golf Collegiate Invite on Tuesday posting a 35-over 875 (296-289-290) for a 14th place finish. In a field of nine teams ranked in the top 25 nationally, Washington was led by sophomore Jan Schneider who posted his second-straight top 25 finish as he tied for 23rd.
"I think we took a step forward this week on another championship level golf course against the strongest field we have faced so far," said head coach Alan Murray. "I think it highlighted the areas we must improve in. We didn't perform how are capable but that's okay, the guys gave their all and I believe it is just a case of getting better which we will do when we get back to Seattle. We'll have a chance to actually get to the practice facility and work with our team after a hectic first couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to the growth of our team in the next stretch before another tough field at our next tournament in Florida at Isleworth."
Schneider's second-straight top 25 finish came after he carded a a 4-over 214 (75-68-71) to tie for 23rd. Thanks to his finish, Washington has had at least one player finish in the top 25 in all three tournaments this season. Following up on his 2-under 68, the sophomore posted a 1-over 71 and knocked in three birdies over his final 18.
