
Huskies Complete First Day of Portland-Seattle Battle

VANCOUVER, Wash. --- The Washington women's tennis team completed the first day of action at the Portland-Seattle Battle on Friday. The event which is held at the Vancouver Tennis Center consisted of
play from Portland, Portland State and Washington. The Huskies competed in seven singles matches as well as four doubles matches and came out winners in all 11 matches.
The doubles team of Freshman Delara Zamani and freshman Nika Zupancic defeated LeBlanc/Soares from Portland 7-6 (3) in the A flight.
In the doubles B flight senior Kenadi Hance and junior Katarina Kopcalic beat Oberg/Schuster from Portland 6-4.
Junior Natsuho Arakawa and freshman Sedona Gallagher won in the doubles C flight against Valk/Zador from Portland State 6-3.
In the doubles D flight junior Abbey Watanabe and Hance took down Upenice/Knecht from Portland State 6-3.
In the singles A flight, Gallagher beat Ramalle from Portland 6-2, 6-2. Arakawa defeated LeBlanc 6-0, 6-3 in the singles B flight.
Zupancic won against Zador, 6-4, 6-4 in the C flight. In D flight play, Koplacic defeated Nikitovic from Portland State 6-1, 6-1.
Zamani beat Schuster 6-1, 6-2 in the E singles flight. In flight F, Hance took down Okazaki from Portland 6-1, 6-2. Watanabe was victorious 6-2, 6-4 over Upenice in the G flight.
The second day of play at the Portland-Seattle Battle will begin at 9:30 a.m.
