
GymDawgs Announce 2019 Schedule

SEATTLE βThe University of Washington GymDawgs announced their official 2019 schedule today, looking to make their third-straight NCAA Nationals appearance. Washington will compete against 13 teams who made the postseason in 2018, including four other NCAA Nationals teams, three Super Six teams, and 2018 National Champion UCLA.The GymDawgs will make four appearances on national television this season, including an appearance on ESPN 2 when they host UCLA. Washington will have four home meets this year.

After a December 3 Purple and Gold Β intrasquad, the regular season begins in earnest for the GymDawgs on Saturday, January 12. Washington will face a tough task, taking on Nebraska on the road. The Cornhuskers made Super Six last season, finishing sixth in the nation.

Washington will then stay on the road, as they kick off Pac-12 play taking on Arizona in Tucson on Friday, January 18. The GymDawgs last competed against Arizona in 2017, when they put up a score of 197.175 to secure the meet victory.

The first home meet of the season for Washington will be Saturday, January 26, when they compete against Oregon State at 7:30 pm on the Pac-12 Network. The Beavers finished the 2018 regular season ranked 14th in the country.

The GymDawgsΒ will then head to Palo Alto, to take on Stanford for a February 1st competition.

Washington will play host to 2018 Pac-12 and national champion UCLA on Sunday, February 10. That meet will be aired on ESPN2.

On Friday, February 15, Washington will compete, on podium, in the Perfect 10 Challenge in Oklahoma City. Washington will compete against 2017 national champion and 2018 NCAA runner-up Oklahoma, as well as George Washington and Arizona State.

Another Pac-12 matchup is next on the docket for the GymDawgs as they travel to Berkeley, Calif. to face off with the California Golden Bears on Saturday, February 23. Cal was one of four Pac-12 schools to make NCAA Nationals last year and finished ninth in the country.

The first tri-meet of the year comes after that, with Washington competing against Boise State and Utah State on Friday, March 1 in Idaho. Boise State has won its conference four consecutive years.

The GymDawgs have back-to-back home meets after that. First up is a Friday, March 8 tri-meet against Sacramento State and Iowa. After that, the GymDawgs will host Southern Utah on Sunday, March 10.

The regular season's final meet will be in Davis, Calif. on Friday, March 15, competing against UC Davis and Illinois.

Post season play begins at the Pac-12 Championships Saturday, March 23 in Salt Lake City. The GymDawgs will then head to the NCAA Regionals, where a new qualifying system will be in place as the GymDawgs will be vying for a third-straight trip to NCAA Nationals.

The first chance for fans to see the GymDawgs this year will be at the annual Meet the GymDawgs, which will take place on Saturday, November 10 from 3-6pm.
