
Washington to Host ITA Northwest Regional Championships

SEATTLE --- The Washington men's tennis team will host the ITA Northwest Regional Championships from Oct. 11-15 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.Β
There will be 121 singles competing in the event, as well as 58 doubles teams from 16 schools across the northwest. The competing schools are: California, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Pepperdine, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle U, St. Mary's, Stanford, UC Davis and Washington.

The last time the Huskies hosted the ITA Northwest Regional Championships was in 2015 when Mitch Stewart reached the finals and Gal Hakak was a semifinalist. The event is one of 12 regional championships around the country, with the winner of each qualifier heading to the ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz.
The top seeded individual is Stanford's Sameer Kumar, while the top seeded doubles team is Washington's senior duo of Enzo Sommer and Kawika Lam. Sommer and Lam reached the Round of 16 in the doubles main draw of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. to begin the fall season.Β
All 11 Huskies will make appearances in the singles draw beginning on Thursday with four Husky duos competing in the doubles draw. Hawken and Alvarez will be competing in doubles as well as Husky pairs Lumsden/Turegano Julian and Smith/Torocsik.
