SEATTLE – Following a big showing at the ITA Kick-off Weekend, newly ranked No. 24 Washington women's tennis hosts two home matches against Fresno State and Denver on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Huskies (2-2) got into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) top-25 rankings on Wednesday, sneaking in at No. 24. This is the first time UW has been ranked in the top 25 since the March 7 ITA poll where the Dawgs got in at No. 25. Individually, No. 6 Stacey Fung received the Pac-12 Player of the Week nod after her three-set match victory against No. 20 LSU to clinch the upset.
Fresno State is 1-2 so far in 2018. The Bulldogs won their first match of the year against Sacramento State. They then played in the same ITA Kick-off Weekend location as the Huskies in Durham, N.C., and lost to No. 9 Duke and No. 20 LSU.
Denver is 1-1 after beating Dartmouth and taking a loss to Georgia Tech as part of the ITA Kick-off Weekend. The Pioneers have one singles player ranked, No. 65 Julia O'Loughlin, and one singles duo ranked, No. 35 Bianca Mok and Camille Verden-Anderson.
Washington hosts Fresno State and Denver on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches start at noon PT and will be held at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Links for live scoring and streaming can be found on the women's tennis schedule page.
