Mireya Grey was a spark plug off the bench for the Huskies as freshman.Β GreyΒ recorded two shots in just 19 minutes of work in her collegiate debut against Michigan.Β She would go on to see action in ten games, record seven shots in that time.Β Grey played a season-high 54 minutes against Illinois in a 2-1 Husky win.Β Since the season has ended, Grey has also played with the Jamaican U20 National Team.
What does it feel like to play at Husky Soccer Stadium?
Grey: I am always excited to play games in the stadium with friends and family watching and getting to play at a new, higher level.

What is it like to play in the Pac-12 Conference?
Grey: It's exciting to play against girls I have played with and against in club and national team play in the Pac-12. I know the level of play in the Pac-12 will always be high.

What is your favorite thing about living in Seattle?
Grey: I love that Seattle is great any time of the year! Summer is great for swimming, hiking and touring downtown. When it gets colder going downtown is a must for the holiday season.

What are your favorite things to do in the summer in Seattle?
Grey: I love to go out to the lake and set up BBQs and go swimming with family and friends! I also love to visit farmer's markets and go to events like the Bite of Seattle.

What are some of your earliest memories of playing soccer?
Grey: I remember playing with my dad and his friends at the beach barefoot. I didn't know anything about soccer. I kicked the ball barefoot and it hurt so bad that I stopped playing.

Who is your biggest inspiration in why you play soccer?
Grey: One of my inspirations to play soccer is my dad. He played professionally and just as he began playing on the Jamaican National Team, he got injured. My dad has explained the journey to become great at soccer and I can see how much he would love for me to become successful at the sport. His passion for the game has transferred to me, and he is definitely someone that makes me want to go as far as possible.

What do you love most about playing soccer?
Grey: I love being able to express myself and let all of my emotions and energy out at once. With the ball at my feet I can be creative and challenge myself.

Who were your favorite players growing up?
Grey: Growing up, I was inspired by players like Messi, George Best, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo (the original), and Ronaldinho.

Can you talk about some of the experiences that have been opened up to you through the sport?
Grey: I have played with many teams. Teams that lose and teams that win. I have experienced working incredibly hard to win, and learned to be humble and to always put 100% effort into all that I do.

Why did you choose to come to UW?
Grey: I've always had my eye on UW as a kid. The school is great academically, and I love the coach and the campus.
