
Washington Opens Pac-12 Play Against Oregon State on Sunday

SEATTLE - After an impressive 7-2-0 record through its non-conference schedule, Washington dives into Pac-12 play hosting Oregon State University on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Husky Soccer Stadium.
The Huskies moved back into the NCAA/United Soccer Coaches poll at No. 17 this week, thanks to a convincing 2-0 victory over cross-town rival and then-No. 24 ranked Seattle University last Sunday. The victory improved Washington's record to 7-2-0 entering into Pac-12 play, tied with Stanford atop the conference table.
Washington finished second in the Pac-12 standings last season, posting a 6-4-0 conference record, seven points behind Stanford which won the Pac-12 title with a 7-1-1 record. Under Jamie Clark's leadership the Huskies have posted a 38-15-8 record in six seasons of Pac-12 competition, winning the conference title in 2013 and finishing second three other times.
The offense has been impressive for the Huskies this season as Washington ranks fifth in NCAA Division I in scoring with 22 goals though nine games. Washington has scored 14 goals over its four-match winning streak while allowing just three.
Redshirt-senior Scott Menzies continues to lead Washington with six goals on the season thanks in large part to his hat trick against Utah Valley. Sophomore Handwalla Bwana scored the match-winner against Seattle U and assisted on the other goal to take over the points lead with 14 (5g, 4a). Freshman Blake Bodily continues to lead the way with five assists, adding a pair of goals for nine points on the season.

The Beavers stunned then-No. 17 Pacific 2-0 in their last match, snapping a three-match losing streak. Jordan Jones and Hassani Dotson lead the team with two goals each. Gage Rogers made his first start of the season in goal vs. Pacific, making three saves to earn the team's second shutout of the year.
