
Washington Falls To Stanford In Game Two

SEATTLE – The No. 7 University of Washington Husky softball team fell to Stanford (19-28, 2-18 Pac-12), 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Husky Softball Stadium.
Taylor Van Zee was the only base runner for the Purple and Gold (38-11, 12-8 Pac-12) as she hit a double deep to center field off Stanford starter, Kiana Pancino (6-5).
The Cardinal knocked in a run in the first inning after an error allowed lead-off hitter Kylie Sorenson to advance to third. She was brought in on an RBI single.
In the third inning, a two-run home run from Whitney Burks gave the Cardinal a 3-0 advantage over the Huskies.
Stanford extended its lead in the fourth inning after Sorenson reached third on a Husky error, and was plated on a single. Two more runs were scored after Burks reached second on an error, extending the Cardinal's lead to 6-0.
Kelly Burdick had an incredible diving catch in the seventh inning to end the Cardinal's chance at increasing their lead.
Despite the 6-0 loss, only two of the runs were earned runs, both of which were scored off Husky starter Samantha Manti (7-2).
Washington and Stanford will close out their series tomorrow, May 7 at 12 p.m. Immediately following the game, seniors Ali Aguilar and Casey Stangel will be honored in the senior ceremony. The game will be streamed live on GoHuskies.com.
