Washington Earns No. 5 Seed In 2017 NCAA Washington Regional

SEATTLE -- The University of Washington men's golf team earned the No. 5 seed in the 2017 NCAA Washington Regional, which was announced Thursday (May 4) on the Golf Channel. The three-day, 54-hole event will be held at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. on May 15-17 and is free to the public.
Washington will play host to 13 other teams and five individuals on the 6,885-yard par-71 course. The top five teams from each of the six regional sites and the top individual finisher not on an advancing team will advance to the national championships to be played May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
The 14-team regional is highlighted by No. 1 seed USC, who enters the event ranked No. 1 in the country. Kent State, ranked No. 12 in the nation, is the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 seed and 13th-ranked Texas A&M. The rest of the field includes No. 4 Florida State, No. 5 Washington, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 San Diego State, No. 8 UTEP, No. 9 Penn State, No. 10 Michigan, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 12 Seattle, No. 13 Marquette and No. 14 Bryant.
The Huskies will look to claim a regional title for the fourth time in program history. Washington, who finished one shot shy of an NCAA Championships qualification last season, has advanced to nationals 15 of the last 18 years and 26 times overall in program history.
The six regional sites include The Grove, College Grove, Tennessee, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University; Kampen Course, West Lafayette, Indiana, hosted by Purdue University; Stanford Golf Course, Stanford, California, hosted by Stanford University; University of Texas Golf Club, Austin, Texas, hosted by University of Texas at Austin; University Club, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, hosted by LSU and Aldarra Golf Club, Sammamish, Washington, hosted by University of Washington.
