
Flores Three-Run Home Home Run Pushes Huskies Past Seattle U

SEATTLE – The Huskies returned home for the first time in over a month to host crosstown rivals, the Seattle U Redhawks, and came out victorious with a 3-1 win Wednesday night at Husky Softball Stadium.
The midweek game was highlighted by a three-run home run from Morganne Flores in the third inning that gave the Huskies the lead over Seattle University and proved to be the only offense of the night for UW.
Ali Aguilar was issued a walk by Seattle U's Andie Larkins, Casey Stangel followed with a single to left field and Flores pounded a homer to left field for her 10th home run of the season and a 3-0 lead.
Seattle U chipped away at the Huskies' lead in the top of the fourth inning after Madi Schreyer issued a walk with the bases loaded that forced in a run. Freshman Samantha Manti came on in relief and limited the damage to just the one run.
Manti (8-1) earned the win after striking out five over 3.2 hitless innings in the circle.
The Huskies return to action this Friday when the open their three-game series against Stanford. Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m. PT. The teams will meet again on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. PT and 12 p.m. PT, respectively.
