
Huskies Pay First Visit To Beavers' New Home

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Washington got a look at Oregon State's new Whyte Track and Field Center today, as the Beavers hosted day one of the two-day OSU High Performance Meet. A number of distance races along with the pole vault and hammer throw occupied the evening's events. Senior Katie Knight posted a West Prelims qualifier in the women's 5k tonight to lead the way for the Dawgs.
Knight, the 2016 Pac-12 10k champ, took fourth overall and third among collegiates in the top 5k heat, running a season-best 16:13.44. The Huskies also got another impressive run from junior Izzi Batt-Doyle, who set a new PR in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:21.30. Sophomore Emily Hamlin cut four seconds off her career-best as well with a time of 4:26.83. Freshman Kaitlyn Neal posted a PR of 4:30.24 and Josephine BossermanΒ and Micaela Kostecka made it five PRs at the distance, as Bosserman ran 4:32.65 and KosteckaΒ crossed in 4:36.26.
On the men's side, Johnathan Stevens was seventh overall in the 1,500m with a season's-best 3:45.99. Mahmoud MoussaΒ ran the 5,000-meters in 14:28.34.
In the steeplechase, Grace Hodge had a personal-best time of 11:02.26, and Julius DiehrΒ ran his second career steeple, taking third in 9:14.84.
Kristina Owsinski had her third pole vault win of the outdoor season, clearing 13-2 1/2, with Kaitlin ZinsliΒ and Annika Dayton both making 12-6 3/4. On the men's side, Blaise Black had the best clearance, making 16-2.
Hammer throw results have yet to be officially posted but unofficial reports had Onyie ChibuogwuΒ winning with a best of 196-11, plus a PR and No. 10 mark in UW history from freshman Angel Nkwonta of 161-2. Carey Campbell was second in the men's hammer at 187-3.
