
GymDawgs Set Program Scoring Record At NCAA Gymnastics Championships

ST. LOUIS – Washington gymnastics' historic season ended on a high note as the GymDawgs set an NCAA Gymnastics Championship program scoring record with a 196.5625 in Semifinal I. The GymDawgs finished their season as the eighth ranked team in the country, climbing over ten spots from the initial preseason rankings.
Washington hit 24-for-24 routines on the night in route to scoring a 49+ in each event. It marks their fifth time this year scoring above a 49.0 in all events.
In total, the UW had five top-10 scores in session one. Freshman Madison Copiak was the highest Husky finisher on the afternoon, tying for eighth place on bars with a 9.875.
Maya Washington posted her second highest floor routine of the year, scoring 9.8875 to tie for 10th place on the event. Hailey Burleson and Joslyn Goings each tied for 10th on beam after scoring 9.8875s and Burleson placed ninth on vault with a 9.8375.
Burleson and Goings were the two Husky all-arounders and each placed in the top-12 in session one. Burleson tied for fifth with a 39.400 and Goings placed 11th after scoring a 39.3375, her second highest of the season.
NACGC All-Americans
Junior Hailey Burleson (All-Around) and Freshman Madison Copiak (Uneven Bars) were named to the NACGC Second-Team All-American team for their performances at NCAA Nationals. Burleson scored a 39.400 in the AA to place fifth and Copiak scored a 9.875 to tie for eight place on bars. NACGC All-Americans are awarded for the top eight performances on each event. The top four of each event receive first team, while fifth through eighth place receive second team.

Bars: The GymDawgs started the meet off in great fashion, beating their season average on bars with a 49.0375. Joslyn Goings led the Huskies off with a stick dismount to score a 9.775. Hailey Burleson (9.8), Janae Janik (9.8125), and Madison Copiak (9.875) each stuck their landings. Copiak's 9.875 was her second highest score of the season. Senior Kaitlyn Duranczyk anchored the GymDawgs with a 9.775.
Beam: Washington continued the momentum of their performance on bars and converted it to a solid 49.1875. Freshman Michaela Nelson started the GymDawgs beam rotation off with a 9.725. Zoey Schaefer stuck her dismount and scored a 9.8375. Senior Janae Janik kept the GymDawgs rolling with a 9.85 and Goings and Burleson had team-high 9.8875s.
Floor: Five of the six competing GymDawgs scored above a 9.8 on floor to post a 49.3125. Zoey Schaefer's 9.825 led things off for Washington, while Goings followed it up with a 9.85.
