UW Falls To No. 20 UCLA 4-1

SEATTLE β Returning home to continue their Pac-12 schedule, the Washington women's tennis team played a tough match against No. 20 UCLA, but ultimately fell 4-1 at Bill Quillian Stadium.
To begin doubles Ena Shibahara and Kristin Wiley defeated Katarina Kopcalic and Lana Slavica on court three 6-2. On court one, No. 39 Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi were putting up a solid fight against No. 22 Terri Fleming and Jada Hart, but ultimately fell 6-3, bringing the score to 1-0 UCLA.
In singles, 111th ranked Kobayashi faced off against sophomore Alaina Miller on court three, and was able to pick up a 6-1, 6-2 win to draw the score at 1-1. However, the Bruins stole back the lead on court two, with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Facing the third ranked player in the country, Stacey Fung dropped a tough first set 6-3, before falling 6-0 in the second. UCLA eventually clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-0 win on court five, with Kenadi Hance and Kopcalic each in third sets, but their matches going unfinished.
The Huskies will be back in action on Sunday with an 11 a.m. match against the USC Trojans. The match will be played outdoors at Bill Quillian Stadium if weather permits it, or indoors at the Nordstrom Tennis Center if needed.
