December 10, 2017 | Cross Country
SAMORIN, Slovakia - In her first competition since finishing second at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Husky senior Amy-Eloise Neale traveled overseas to the European Cross Country Championships where she helped the U23 team from Great Britain get a victory this morning in Slovakia.
Neale, who has dual citizenship with the U.S. and Great Britain, took fourth in the women's U23 championship race in 20-minutes and 59-seconds over a course that was 6,280 meters long. She was second among British runners and helped Great Britain win the team title with 12 points ahead of Germany's 15 points. The race featured a total of 63 competitors and race temperatures were around 30 degrees.
Last month Neale became the third Husky to finish runner-up at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, earning her second-straight cross country All-America honor and a nomination for the Honda Award for cross country. She will now transition into the track season, which starts for the Huskies on January 12-13 with the UW Indoor Preview.
