Double Overtime Ends In Husky Win
September 16, 2016 | Men's Soccer
"We made it hard on ourselves" said Washington head coach Jamie Clark. "We gave up goals that we didn't need to and so it made us have to play a bit harder than we needed to; but it was a testament to our team, a testament to a lot of the guys who ย never gave up.ย A win like this is tough but it builds character."ย
Mason Robertson got the match started in the second minute with a shot that went wide. Davidson followed just five minutes later with a goal to make the score 1-0, Wildcats.
After Maxi Pragnell gave Davidson a 1-0 early lead in the contest, the Huskies evened the score with a strike from Handwalla Bwana from John Magnus. Magnus' assist marked his first point in the purple and gold.ย

As regulation ran out, both teams stepped up the pace and picked up the defense and neither team could find a break away moment. Bwana took two shots that went high and wide. Freshman Joey Parish played for the first time in his career, and took a shot from inside the 18 that went wide.ย
Goalkeeper Auden Schilder played a key role in the Huskies' survival as he recorded three saves.ย
In the first golden goal overtime, neither team was able to convert chances, the teams moved on to their second, ten minute overtime.ย
Washington was on the offensive with three corner kicks and three shots while Davidson recorded zero shots in the final over time. It was a fight to the finish, but it was David Coly who ended the night with goal off the corner from Bwana. The final score of the match on Montlake was 3-2, Huskies.
