SEATTLE – Whether it is current or former players from the University of Washington men's golf program, many have had a strong summer so far, this time highlighted by three top 10 finishes in three different events.
Sophomore Carl Yuan tied for 10th at the Pacific Coast Amateur on Friday finishing with a 4-over 292. Coming off of taking home the 115th Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur Championship title just a week ago, Yuan opened the stroke play event with his best round firing a 2-under 70. He followed that with rounds of 72-77-73 en route to his top 10 showing.
Former Husky standout Brock Mackenzie had a stellar week at the Syncrude Oil Country Championship, an event on the Mackenzie PGA Tour in Canada, as he finished tied for second with an 18-under 270. Mackenzie stayed in the top five throughout the week with rounds of 67-66-66-71 on the par-72 course. His finish is his best of the tour this season.
Three former Dawgs were also competing at the Web.com's Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae with two bringing home top 10 finishes and one finishing in the top 25. Alex Prugh carded a top five effort finishing fifth with an 18-under 262 (67-63-67-65) to climb 15 spots on the tour's money list.
