Aguilar Comes Up Big For USA Women’s National Team
SURREY, B.C. – Washington senior-to-be Ali Aguilar was 2 for 3 and drove in the game's first run in the first inning as the USA Women's National Team jumped out to a 4-0 lead and downed Japan, 7-3, in the gold medal game of the WBSC XV Women's World Softball Championship Sunday in Surrey, B.C.
Aguilar, who on Saturday drove in the game-winning run in a 4-3 win (also over Japan) to push USA into the championship game, hit .333 (4 for 12, HR, 4 RBI) in six games.
Team USA was a perfect 9-0 during the tournament.
Aguilar was not the only player with Husky ties participating in the World Softball Championships. Former UW stars Victoria Heyward and Jenn Salling were huge contributors for the bronze medalist Canadian team.

Salling was equally dominating, hitting .385 (10 for 26), with four home runs and an impressive 16 RBI. She drove in at least one run in nine of 10 games.
Team Canada's tournament run ended with an 8-2 record on Sunday when they dropped a 11-1 decision against Japan.
