SEATTLEย โ Director of Athletics Jennifer Cohen announced the hiring of Chief Financial Officer Kate Cullen and Senior Associate Director of Athletics Roy Shick, Thursday. Cullen will manage UW Athletics' Business and Finance units, while Shick will oversee external affairs, including advancement, marketing, communications and the Husky Ticket Office.
"A critical component to our future success will be the generation of revenue, and management of our existing budgets with a high level of efficiency," Cohen said. "These two individuals bring demonstrated abilities to accomplish those things, and I'm extremely excited to welcome them to the Husky family."
Cullen comes to the department of athletics from the UW's Foster School of Business, where she served as the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration, advising the Dean on key financial matters and managing the Foster School's $60 million annual operating budget. Her start date will be July 5.
Shick, who served as UW's Associate Director of Athletics for Advancement from 2008 to 2014, returns to Montlake after spending two years as Senior Associate Director of Athletics at the University of Texas. Shick was an integral part in The Drive For Husky Stadium fundraising campaign, which generated more than $50 million toward the renovation of UW's football facility. He also led UW's annual fund team during the most fruitful fundraising year in school history. Shick will start July 18.
Both Shick and Cullen will serve on Cohen's executive leadership staff.
