Program-Record 10 Huskies Earn Pac-12 All-Academic

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The University of Washington softball team placed a program-record 10 student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, the league office announced today (June 10). To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.
Senior Kimberlee Souza was named to the first team, while junior Ali Aguilar and sophomores Julia DePonte and Taylor Van Zee were second team selections. Seniors Dani Braun, Courtney Gano and Jennie McNeill, junior Casey Stangel and sophomores Kelly Burdick and Trysten Melhart were named honorable mention.
The 10 selections mark Washington's most on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams in its 24 seasons, surpassing the nine selections the Huskies received in 2013.
Souza, who was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, was named to the first team for the third time in her career while Braun was named honorable mention for the third time. Gano and Aguilar notched their second all-academic selection.
