LAWRENCE, Kansas - Day one of the NCAA West Preliminaries did not last long, as constant thunder storms around Rock Chalk Park caused constant delays, and eventually led to the full suspension of the meet. Only the men's hammer and women's javelin had been able to get underway Thursday afternoon, and none of the 18 Huskies scheduled to compete today saw the track.
A revised and jam-packed schedule for Friday was still being worked on Thursday night. The men's pole vault, scheduled for today, will be held indoors at Anschutz Pavilion on Friday, and the women's vault will be held at the same location. Both high jumps have also been moved indoors for Saturday.
