April 25, 2016 | Softball
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Considered one of the most accomplished pitchers in college softball history, Danielle Lawrie was named to the Pac-12 All-Century Softball Team on Monday (April 25).
The All-Century Team consists of 30 players in total -- 17 field players and 13 pitchers. Twenty-eight of the 30 players on the all-century roster have won at least one NCAA Women's College World Series title. In total, the team has 23 Olympic medals won, and 21 Conference Player of the Year Award winners. Additionally, all 30 players on the team have played in at least one NCAA WCWS.
Throughout her career at the University of Washington, Lawrie set the school record in nearly every pitching category and was named the National Player of the Year in two consecutive seasons (2009, 2010), becoming the only Washington athlete to take home the award twice in any sport in school history.
Lawrie, who was a three-time All-American, had a career record of 136-42 in the circle and led Washington to its first national championship in 2009. During that historic season, the junior earned USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and also took home the Honda Award for softball. She was named the WCWS Most Outstanding Player, going 5-1 with a 1.88 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 42.2 innings pitched while belting a home run and driving in five runs at the plate.
In her senior season, Lawrie compiled a 40-5 record in the circle with a 1.11 ERA and 495 strikeouts in 302.1 innings while walking just 46.
Lawrie owns school records in wins, strikeouts, shutouts, appearances, starts, complete games and innings pitched and holds single-season records in wins, shutouts, strikeouts, starts, complete games and innings.
